The Instituto Anglicano (Anglican Institute) is the philanthropic arm of the Cathedral which runs creches to take care of underprivileged children while their mothers go out to work. There are four creches in the city of São Paulo and, more recently, another four have been opened in the interior of the state, associated with the Anglican Churches in Botucatu and São Manoel.

The British Society has a dedicated team of welfare professionals who  focus on assisting community members  in their own homes as well as supporting members who reside in  residential  homes.  An important change relating to the care of our elderly members took place during  March, when  the residents who lived at the Lar Elite  moved  to a new home, Cora Residential in Campo Belo. Details of this change  are covered in the article by Alison Steel on page 4.

On the evening of February 19, 2018 the Fundação Britânica de Beneficência was awarded the Silver Salver at a Formal Sitting of the São Paulo City Council. This honour was awarded by the initiative of City Councillor Atílio Francisco, whose legislative endeavours are highlighted by sharing with us his concern for the cause of the elderly and in recognition of our 70 years working in this field to the benefit of the city.

St. Paul’s 4th Education Conference, Healthy Hearts Healthy Minds

The fourth edition of the St. Paul’s School Education Conference, held in São Paulo on 24th and 25th March (with pre-conference workshops on Friday 23rd March), was a resounding success. The approximately 400 delegates who attended from schools in Brazil and other countries in Latin America through our connection with the LAHC (Latin American Heads Conference) spoke very highly of the event, the calibre of the speakers, and the networking opportunities afforded.
